Help! Double clciking on anything doesnt work

Hi,

This is an error on my dad's pc which he told me over the phone so I cen't
be very specific (he's not very pc literate).

When he boots up and enters XP, he can't double click on any icons, they all
freeze and nothing happens. The mouse still moves and he can highlight the
taskbar icons, but nothing loads. I made him go into safe mode and do a
system scan, which found no errors.

Bad he turned the pc off at the mains becuase it froze on him, and has
had this problem since. I know, so stupid...

Any advice or just reinstall XP?

Sarah,

Is he able to "Right-Click" and choose "open" on any of the programs? It he
can, then he may need to adjust the sensitivity of the mouse by going into
the mouse properties inside the control panel.
