Having trouble with vista need help?

I have just purchased a new computer which has vista and so far I have not
been able to transfer files from my old computer to my new one and be able to
open them. The files appear in my docs but when I try to open them I get an
error message saying that the files maybe corrupted. I have tried
transferring with discs, flash drives and cable and still I'm not able to
access them. Please ,If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, artshark.

Well, it ought to work. But, then, you knew that. ;^{

Can you tell us HOW you are trying to transfer the files. Are these data
files (.jpg, .mp3, .doc, .txt, etc.) or executables (.exe, .dll, etc.) or
both? Which commands are you using? (Copy? Move? Xcopy? Backup/Restore?)

You know, of course, that a game or other application usually can't just be
copied to a new computer and run immediately. It must be installed from the
original media onto the new computer so that the new operating system can
handle any required Registry entries and other installation chores.

Tell us more about your hardware, software and methods and we should be able
to spot where the process is going wrong. Simply "I tried everything" and
"doesn't work" give us no clues at all to work with. :^{

What folder did you try to save them to?
What format are they in? .doc? .xls?
What version?
