Sometimes while just surfing the web, my dsl modem will
freeze. So when i disconnect it and try to reconnect, it
freezes on "Opening WAN Miniport(PPPOE)" and after a few
seconds i get an error 678 "The remote computer failed to
respond". This happens every once in a while when i'm
surfing the web, but it happens everytime i stream media
from a website. The only way i have been able to
reconnect to my ISP is to unplug the modem for a couple
of minutes and then plug it back in. While this is a
temporary fix, i'm looking for a permanent solution
because this is getting annoying. I have a Westell
Wirespeed 2110 Dual Connect Bridge modem and am using
Windows XP to connect, not my ISP's bundled software, but
it happens with that too. Any help or advice i can get
would be greatly appreciated.
