Having Printers Installed for all Profiles

J

Jeff Stevens

Hello,

I am re-installing our Win2k ts from scratch. I want to
know the best way for users with new profiles to
already/automatically have all the printers installed.
Our main base of users needs about 10 printers.

Last time I copied a profile with the printers to the
default user profile but that seemed to cause
inconsistancies in a few programs and in certain instances.

Is this the best way? Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Your best way is to get a list of all the printers that
are going to be used on your server, then edit your
ntprint.inf file to make sure that each client printer
will utilize the correct terminal server driver.

However, as you'll see, each operating system describes
each printer differently, so if you have the same printer
on multiple clients, then you'll have to put multiple
entries into your ntprint.inf file to account for this.

Jeff,

If you are trying to connect your users to network
printers, take a look at "Con2Prt.exe" in the Windows 2000
Resource Kit. You can add it to the users' logon script.
