havent got recover deleted items on 2003 what do i do

I have microsoft office 2003 and i am trying to retreive some deleted items.
apprently going off the help online i should have it in the tools menu
"recover the deleted items"
i went throught the process to try and get the "recover the deleted items"
and it did not work
could someone please help

Recover Deleted Items functions only if you are:

1) connected to an Exchange server
2) deleted item retention is turned on at the server level

Hope this helps.
