Outlook 2003 recover deleted email from an attached mailbox

I have an executive assistant that wants to be able to recover deleted items
from her managers deleted items. It works nicely on her mailbox, but when
she attaches onto her managers mailbox (which is just a joined mailbox
within her Outlook) and selects the delete items folder, clicks on tools ->
recover deleted items, they option is greyed out.

Any way on enabling it?

if dumpsteralwayson is enabled, it might work (but I haven't tried it with
shared mailboxes) - if it doesn't, it's not possible. However, deleted
items should be in her deleted folder, unless she emptied it. If she wants
them placed in his deleted item folder, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/202517

to enable dumpsteralwayson:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type DumpsterAlwaysOn, and then press ENTER.
Double-click DumpsterAlwaysOn.
Type 1 in the Value data area, click Decimal in the Base area, and then
click OK.
Restart Outlook.
