Have to "run as" for certain programs

I have notice certain programs generate "...has encountered a problem and
needs to close". However, if I start the same program using "run as" and
select the owner profile, the program runs fine.
I have admin rights under the user encountering the error messages. I
created another user with admin rights and once logged on as this user, no
error messages were encountered running the same program as before.
This is XP Home edition.

Thanks

Some programs have an option to "only allow this user" or "allow all users"
to run the program at the time of installation. This may be the problem
especially if you have no problem running other programs. If you want to fix
this you might try a uninstall and reinstall of one of the programs in
question. If this fixes the problem you have at least found the source.
This is just a guess and there may also be an easier fix. Let me know how it
turns out.

I'm not sure that's the problem. One of the programs is Roxio Media Creator
7.5. The main program opens fine without errors. Sound editor is one of the
sub programs that can be launched from the main window. I consitently get
the eror message and the program will not start unless I start the main
program by using "run as" and select the Owner profile. I started the other
Admin account I set up and have no problems.

Trying to figure out what is going on with my profile that has not caused
any problems for two years.

A good test to try would be to create a new user profile, log into that user,
and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away there might be
something wrong with the user profile you are having a problem with. If the
problem persists then we are looking at something else... like a problem in
the software or some other area of Windows.

Another test would be to reboot into safemode and try opening the program
from the user in question.

Try each of the above and get back to us.

It must be a problem with the user profile as I created another user and
programs ran fine. How do I correct the issue with the user account? Is
there an easy way to duplicate the user account without transfering the
problem with it?

Thanks
