Have i been hacked?

I am not allowed to continue unless:-

Windows Live Messenger

A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to
continue. would you like to do this now?

That to me is a threat, telling me i MUST update or dispose of the product,
is that the way Microsoft is treating the people who shell-out for the
products.

I prefer to have what i want on my box, why should i be FORCED/BULLIED into
a product i don't want, the program is good enough as it is.

So is it a hack or am i being Bullied?

Greetings,

Unfortunately this latest update has been made mandatory by Microsoft. I am really not quite
sure why it's mandatory, but it is.

So, to directly answer your question, it's not a hack, it's 'by design' (and I guess,
bullying).

Thank you Jonathan for a respectful answer.

i only made the post because the wording was a bit of putting, something
that a hacker would use.

So you are intimately familiar with hacker terminology?

I too am confused, but I think I know why these updates are mandatory.
These updates are usually security patches PROTECT people from hackers, but
that does sound like something a hacker would say.
But I'm confused about why people are forced to use these updates, yet
UPGRADES (WLM2008 < WLM2009) aren't. I'm so sick of hearing "how did u get
ur pic to move" when it's easy on 2009. Upgrading would be so much easier
even if they had a BANNER come on screen every time they start Messenger
that says "2009 is now available", instead of having to check all the time.
So anyway, now you know why they NEED to be installed.
Hope I helped.
