Hardware tab on System Control Panel

Does anyone know which component adds the Hardware tab to the System
Control Panel window?

I just upgraded XPE from SP1 to SP2, did not add any new components,
and now, when I click on the System icon in the Control Panel, the
Hardware tab is nowhere to be found. There are other tabs on the
window (General and Advanced). The Hardware tab existed before I
upgraded.

Anyone have any suggestions about this?

Thanks,
John

I guess you meant "Add Hardware"; if i remember, you have to add the
following component :

* Add Hardware Control Panel

If you need to scan for devices, you'll need "Plug and Play Software Device
Enumerator".

To look for your devices after, it is useful to have the following
components :

* System Control Panel
* Device Manager

I have the "Add Hardware" icon on my Control Panel, what I'm missing is
a tab on the window that pops up when clicking on the "System" icon of
the Control Panel.

Essentially what I want to get to is the Device Manager screen. Well,
I can get to it by running "devmgmt.msc" from the command line, but I'd
still like to access it through the GUI.

It's not really a big deal, just more of a curiosity and a convenience
(so I don't have to remember "devmgmt.msc" (although the more I keep
typing it, the more I'll remember it :)...)) on my part at this point.

From what i know, as soon as i added the "Device Manager" + "System Control
Panel" components, i was able to access it the two following ways :

* Right-Click on MyComputer, Manage, and select Device Manager from the tree
* Control Panel - System, Hardware tab, Device Manager

Well, I accidentally stumbled onto the solution...almost.

One of the following 4 components gave me the Hardware tab when opening
the System Control Panel:

* USB 2.0
* Windows XP Service Pack 2 Resource DLL
* Common Control Libraries Version XPSP2
* Common Control Libraries Policy XPSP2

I don't have the time to determine exactly which component is the
winner, but I thought I'd share for posterity.

John,

If you add "Administrative Support Tools" component and resolve all it dependencies you will unlikely have problems with Device
Manager.
