hanging system when disconnecting internet

I am using a new notebook with Windows XP home and reside in NSW, Australia

I have set up two internet dial in connections - one for my ISP's city dial in (standard telephone No.) and another for the same ISP but uitilising an 019 ........ number that is a local call when I am in the outback of NSW.

My problem is that when I disconnect the 019 ........ internet connection the internet window freezes and the computer stops working. I managed the second time this happenned to "end task" by using CTRL/ALT/DELETE.

I did not experience this problem when I used the local city dial in telephone number which was before I set up the second 019 ........ number. As I have not returned to Sydney yet I have not yet been able to see if the original internet connection also now has the same problem.

Can anyone help me.

Try uninstalling/removing the 019 connection, then set it up again manually
from scratch ( you can use the "New Connection Wizard".) Before you do
this, do you know your user/pass and DNS settings, or any others, if such
apply?

Good luck,

I am back on the road again and after setting up the dial up connection the problem is still happening most of the time. It is interesting that if the internet connection is left on until the maximum session time (i.e. 6 hrs) has been reached and I am discounted by my ISP there never seems to be a problem. The problem occurs on most occasions only when the internet connection is mannually discounted by me

Any further suggestions
