Guru Stumper - File menu missing in default toolbar - Access 2002

Frank

A very usual situation surfaced while using Access 2002. Specifically,
whenever I open a database in Access 2002, the Default File menu on the
toolbar is missing.

I have done all the usual fixes - e.g.. resetting toolbar under the toolbar
customize box, etc. yet without success. Further, I have uninstalled the
application using Add/Delete application found in the Control Panel. Lastly,
I reinstalled the application as well as both service packs and the latest
jet engine service pack. The same problem continues to be a menace.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did you perform these steps?:

1) Open Access
2) Right-click any menu bar or toolbar and choose Customize from the
shortcut menu
3) On the Toolbars tab, select the Menu Bar and click the Reset button

This should restore any inadvertently deleted submenus or commands.

Did all that yet without success. Comments????

If you overlooked the "select the Menu Bar" in step #3, that's where your
problem would lie, otherwise you might well have stumped the gurus. <g>

I suppose you could re-create the "File" menu using "Customize...".

Nope - was sure to select appropriate toolbar name as it's the default - ie.
Toolbar name " Menu Bar." It can't be unselected. Guess this is one for the
MicroSoft develpment super gurus.

Thanks a ton for your timely posts and patience with this thing.

Just in case you have a Custom Menu Bar set up in the Startup Options ...:
hold the ShiftKey down while you are opening the database then try step 2 &
3 of John's post.

Yes, we had the same idea about the problem and I guessed the O.P. didn't
follow your instructions correctly.

When I go into customise, it is not the default - the selected item in mine
is 'Alignment and Sizing'
It can't be unselected.

It can on mine. When you say 'selected', do you mean checked or
highlighted?

We mean selected, as in highlighted - then hit reset.
