grey lines

Has anyone found an answer to grey lines question.Grey lines have appeared on my desktop where there is
text or the edge of a box stretching across both side os the screen. It's not the monitor as i checked with another. i have unplugged my speakers but no joy. I have De Gauss turned on. Still got grey lines and it is beginning to annoy me !!! can anyone help..................pleas

Check the fan on your graphics card is still going and isn't clogged with
dust. An overheating graphics card can cause a similar effect.

Could be EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference), either radiated from
electrical equipment or wiring, flourescent lighting, or carried along
the AC electric supply lines. Sometimes very difficult to identify the
source. One location I worked had a terrible problem with this all along
one side of a building. Wound up being high voltage power lines burried
under the sidewalk outside the building.

You could try changing your display adaptor refresh rate, too. Sometimes
that can help toeliminate it.
