Shadow lines on screen/printer problem

On all of my text screens, word documents, e-mails, etc.
there is a light grey shadow line behind every line of
text. It runs across the entire screen. I have checked
all of the settings that I can locate, but this annoying
grey line is behind every line of text. It is even
behind the text I am writing now, including the subject,
name and e-mail lines. Anyone know what is wrong?

My only other problem is that when I send a multi-page
word document to my HP Laserjet 5L printer, it will only
print manually and I have to push the print button for
every page. Documents from E-mail and other sources all
print out all pages automatically. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with my display, which is a Sony
flat screen monitor. The problem started before I
installed XP. It doesn't affect my printer. It's just
annoying on the monitor. Please post your solution if
you get one.
