Graphics card choice

Petterson Mikael

Hi,

I am thinking of chaning my graphics card in my pc. It supports AGP 8x.
My computer will be used for gaming with half-life2, company of heroes (
and 'just cause' when I bought it).

I am thinking of either:

Connect3D Radeon X850 Pro VIVO 256MB or Sapphire Radeon X1600 PRO HDMI
256MB ( a lot cheaper).

Please give me your hints.

What should I consider when I select a gaming graphics card?

cheers,

Things to consider:

1) AGP or PCI-E
2) Slot speed (AGP 2x, 4x, 8x)
3) Brand loyalty
4) Monitor connection (VGA or Digital) Check with your monitor
5) Will you be doing other graphics than just games? If yes, the VIVO might
be useful.
6) Will you consider HD DVD? If yes, the HDMI is a must.
7) The most important thing to consider: when would I be replacing my PC? If
you are planning to replace the PC soon, then you should note that most newer
PCs do not offer AGP slots anymore, in favor for PCI-E
8) Price.

Since you have already determined that the PC is using AGP 8x slot, then check
with options 4 to 8.

Those are 2nd line ATI cards, thier ok but ATI puts the minimal into them
when compared to real ATI hardware. Also,ATI includes free dvd decoder
software that the 3rd party lines cannot install....
