graphic identity in Windows XP Professional PPTX 2007

I am still learning the idiosyncrasies of this new PowerPoint. In the old
one if i needed to find out the name of a graphic i could right click -
animate - and the name would appear in the animation list so that i could go
find that specific graphic if i needed to. Here is my dilema - Now they only
say picture 1,2,3 etc. No graphic names! My documents are @ 250 - 300
slides long and share graphics from presentation to presentation. They are
also used in other programs like InDesign and Corel. Is there a way to have
a name attached to the graphic. I really need to be able to have the name
available to save hours of looking when someone else needs it for another
application. Pease help!! Thank you.

Hi,

The image name comes up in the alt text for the web. Select the object|
right click on it| Size and position| Alt text tab.

If you have renamed the object within PowerPoint, its' name will update in
the animation task pane. Click the image, Format tab| Arrange group| Click
the Selection Pane button. The time will be listed. Hit F2 and you can
rename it. Finish by hitting <enter> That updates the animation pane.. I'm
sure there are other nuances but I don't have time to search for them all.
Good luck.

Thank you - i tried everything you said but there are no names for the
graphics when i go to the alt text tab. I don't know if it is because it is
opening older documents and converting or not. But - it appears that i have
lost all my graphic names since the upgrade. I also tried the format
suggestion and again - nothing. What i am afriad of is that if i go back to
the older version i won't get them back. I have over 2000 corel draws that
most of the graphics have been built from and the guys want to change them
quite often. That is why i need to be able to get the name from the drawing
they want to use. I will keep trying and if you have any other ideas -
please let me kow and again - thanks!

Hi,

Hmmm. Maybe it only works if you import the image in 2007? I don't have
previous versions to try it. Not that I don't have them but don't have time
to get them installed just yet. What about linking them to the source image
and just changing the source image? Just have to bust the links if you move
the presentation elsewhere.
