finding original graphic name?

B

Big Ess

So I have about 500 slides. I have to run through the slides and
locate all embedded graphics, locate the original file name, and find
that graphic outside the PPT and make sure the 'source' files are
organized appropriately.

Currently I locate a graphic, and then act as if I want to attach an
animation - a process which does reveal the file name. Is there an
easier way? And in the wishful thinking category ;--- any way to
export a list or something automatically.

Thanks.

S

PS I just found out this morning, too late obviously, that you can
link files and not just embed them.

There is no link to the original name of the inserted image. Keep in mind, that if you link rather than insert, that if you move your presentation, the links will more than likely break.

I realize the links are broken. I'm just looking for the original
file name so they can be organized accordingly and stay with the
presentation going forward....

Thanks,

Your not going to find it in your presentation once the images are inserted.

But I can, using the described method. Just looking for an easier
way, since obviously PPT retains the file name.

As Michael said there's no way to recover the path to an embedded picture.
You are recovering the display name which may help you work out the path. You
can automate what you are doing with vba code but you would need to add dummy
animations for all pictures, read the name and then delete the animations. Is
this something you could do?
