Hi

I have a Nvidia 8400 SE graphics card, and recently i updated the driver from the nvidia site to the latest version (release 275.33). but now whenever I open or close a video file, my screen blacks out for about 2-3 seconds. I can solve this by rolling back to an older version but is there any way to fix this without rolling back?

sys specs

intel core 2 duo e7400 2.8ghz
2gb DDR2 RAM
Viewsonic 19" monitor
intel dg41rq motherboard and intel g41 onboard chipset

Just stick with the rolled back drivers. you wont get any improvement on an older card like that by installing the latest drivers. The new drivers are aimed at the GTX460 onwards i'd imagine. I wouldnt worry about it.

I would also say, stick with the 'old' drivers, you really ain't gonna 'see' any improvements, even if there were any. :)

More bloat with ... "Users are no longer required to install a separate 3D Vision Controller driver or CD driver." ... I only got 2 eyes.

I have a 9800GT with an LG 24"

Oh, and one point, direct from nVidia ...

Do not Use Windows Rollback for Graphics Drivers

To reinstall a previous or older NVIDIA graphics driver, do not use the Windows
rollback feature. This method will not reliably restore all the previous driver files.
Instead, use the Windows Add and Remove programs to remove the current driver, and
then install the older driver using setup.exe

oh, and ...

Issue
On all supported versions of Microsoft Windows, uninstalling the NVIDIA driver using
the Windows Device Manager may not remove associated files or applications.

Explanation
Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is by design. If you wish to uninstall the
NVIDIA driver, it is recommended that you do so using Add and Remove programs.
See the Microsoft KB article 2278714.

don't you just love computers
