Google Chrome doesn't see Silverlight

With IE8 I can use Silverlight, but Chrome doesn't seem to detect
Silverlight. Also it cannot be found under Chrome plugins.
I have removed Silverlight and reinstalled it, but still to no avail.
Any ideas?
I hate using IE8, so I would appreciate a solution...
