Google and Ebay toolbar mixup

J

JAX

I have both Google and Ebay toolbars installed in IE 6.

Usually I only want one turned on to save space on the
screen so I open the View Menu and deselect one of the
two.

The names are interchanged. If I leave the EBay toolbar
checked , I'm left with the Google toolbar visible. To
turn off the Google toolbar, I have to Uncheck the EBay
toolbar.

These were both installed automatically. Is there
anything I can do to switch the names that show in the
View Menu|Toolbar so that the name which is checked is
the toolbar which shows?

There seems to be some sort of voodoo involved with the toolbar name
display. When I first installed the Google toolbar (on IE5.5), IE
identified it as the Radio toolbar and Idenfified the Radio toolbar as
Google. Subsequently my grandson installed the Yahoo toolbar, and the
Radio toolbar regained its identity, but Google and Yahoo were switched.
Later when I reinstalled Google, everything was properly named for a
while. Then I "upgraded" to IE6, and now everything else is properly
identified, but Google has no name at all. Even stranger, if I open am
..xml file by double-clicking, an IE windows opens which has Google
displyed but not Yahoo, and everything is correctly labeled on the menu.

Hi JAX,

Reset the toolbar setting from Registry using this fix: (XP)
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm

(or)

Reset the toolbar setting from Registry using this fix:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg

Resetting the layout solves this problem in most cases.

Thanks Ramesh,

I tried the first solution you listed and it worked like
a charm. At least the ebasy toolbar is the one which
disappear when I uncheck the view|toolbar menu.

Ramesh, Since you were able to solve Jax's problem, maybe you could help with
mine ~ I had the Google toolbar, which was working fine, then added the "My
Web Search" toolbar, automatically, when I downloaded the Popular
Screensavers from funproducts.com. All was well for a couple of days. I was
able to access both but now, both are gone and I'm back to the generic
toolbar. Also, when I go into View/Toolbars, neither Google or MyWebSearch
appear in the drop-down. Do you have any idea where they went, how can I get
them back and how I can prevent this happening again? I'm running Win 98 SE
and IE 6, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any help you can give me ~
