Good Bye ASUS Hello Apple G5 WoW!

that is so true....

but still sticking to win2k platform...and intel/amd....

(sigh) Yeah, what else is there . . . the Mac has its own
problems/limitations, Linux is more practical for servers . . .

I don't believe you.

OK, so you're suspicious as well as ignorant.

Next . . .
Well it is PC to hate Windows and MS.

But the fact that you are trying to copy large numbers of files and
even full disk using MS copy command shows you lack knowledge as to
how the OS works.

But do carry on.

I could say, I suppose, that you obviously haven't the faintest idea
of why I was moving all those files, or why it was the best option in
those circumstances. But, really, it would be superfluous.

I mean, everybody knows that operating systems are designed so that
you can't copy large numbers of files and even full disks.

Right . . .

Gawd, have you ever used an OS that wasn't a toy? You might be
surprised to learn that normal OS's don't require third-party packages
to perform straightforward tasks; Windows does, because of its
perennially flawed architecture. The flaws in Windows and other
Microsoft products have literally spawned an industry.

But, hyperbole aside, have you ever tried to copy a large number of
files with XP or another Windows variant? Half the time it craps out
(and /please/ don't complain that it actually really only craps out
13.935% of the time, because I find that no more reassuring than the
knowledge that death happens, on average, only once). Happened to me
just a few days ago, as I was trying to recover from one of XP's
glorious system-destroying crashes, >>

Some thing i find difficult to understand. If XP is so dam bad, why
the hell are you using it?

What's the alternative? There are lots of better OS's out there --
just about any of them, really -- but I spend most of my time dealing
with applications, not the OS.

For someone who can't remember what he wrote from post to post,
working at the command line in any operating system is probably not a
good idea and might explain the real cause of your reported problems
with Win XP. As for the slowest OS on the planet, I believe the
uncontested champion in that category is OS X.

I really can't say, because I haven't seen any benchmarks that compare
the OS's on comparably-powered platforms -- and I suspect you haven't,
either. But don't let me interfere with your hyperbole. I mean, heaven
forbid I should interfere with your right to use techniques that you
fail to recognize when used by others. You need some kind of edge,
given that your proposition, that XP is the very model of a modern
operating system, is so patently laughable.

For starters, I suggest you request a directory listing in OS X; then
take a lunch break--you might have it by the time you get back. For
other points of comparison, you might look at this site run by an OS X
enthusiast which attempts to compare XP and OS X with some degree of
fairness (even so it is heavily biased toward OS X). Nevertheless, on
some of your pet peeves (e.g., file transfer and responsiveness), XP
is judged superior.

Perhaps you would care to share with us some sites documenting your
so-called well-known problems with XP?
