Goes into standby without warning...

I have two problems regarding standby...
1. For some time now, when my computer goes into standby, regardless of if
it is after my set time of being idle or if I put it in standby manually, the
fans do not slow down or go off as they used to, so it sounds as if my
computer is fully on.

2. More recently, within the last couple weeks, my computer just jumps into
standby when it feels like it. I'm sitting here typing or surfing and off it
goes (of course the fans stay on). When it does this, I also can't get it to
come back on by moving the mouse or hitting a key, I have to hit the restart
button.

Problem 1 started when I was using XP SP1 and continues now that I have SP2.
I don't think the second problem started until I upgraded. I've tried
upgrading video drivers and reverting back to old ones when I thought it was
just the monitor going off, but I don't think it's just that anymore! Any
suggestions?

It's a failure of ACPI. Maybe it needs a BIOS update.

You Can turn off standby (ACPI) in device manager.
