Gina customization

Hi All,

Is it possible to customize the gina.dll so as to remove the Welcome screen
at the system boot time? I am working on a device which has a LAN network,
where Files/Folders are required to be shared among devices over a cluster of
network.
I first tried using Minlogon, later I came to know that we can’t create
shares using Minlogon easily, as in case of Windows Logon (I will have to use
Net.exe or WNetUseConnection etc).
If I use windows logon shell then I have to hide (remove) the Welcome screen
as well as the password messages at boot time. I know that there is a third
party solution available from Front motion and Logon studio to customize the
user logon, but is it possible to do modification in logon gina.dll to
achieve a Custom Shell with Windows Logon? (Is there any link?)
I tried the following with Windows Logon to remove system messages at
start-up.
1) Set DisableStatusMessages to 1
2) Set Logon type to 0
3) Set AutoAdminLogon to 1

With these settings I am able to hide the system messages at boot time but
for a very small fraction of seconds I can see some of the system messages
(probably username password messages) on the screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Sean,

Thanks a lot for the information, great help...
In my yesterdays post I have mentioned that with the following settings:
1) Set DisableStatusMessages to 1
2) Set Logon type to 0
3) Set AutoAdminLogon to 1
I am able to hide the windows status messages at windows Logon, though I
could see the Admin password screen for a very fraction of time. Later I have
added the following in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Integer 'DisableCAD', 1.
Now with this setting I even don’t see the user logon screen (which appears
for a fraction of second), but I don’t know whether this will have any side
effect?
Can you guide me on this?
Thanks once again for the help.

Regards
Roshan.

I have seen this setup before and it should be no problems. If you ahve
multiple users, then you may have to re-consider.

Yes, we will be having a single user system but the device will be on network
with other devices connected together(we should be able to share files
folders of other devices on the network)
