If you paid for Windows XP, take up your issue with the fellow who fixed
your computer. If you didn't pay for Windows XP, go and purchase a valid
copy from a retail store and install it on your system.

even assuming u have the ME cd, i don't think ME can be installed over xp
which would mean u would probably have to format your hd and risk losing data
(and any apps u haven't got a cd for). it sounds like u've had an unlicensed
copy of xp installed which sounds unpromising but MS were offeriing an
amnesty for unknowing users. i can't remember the details but letting MS know
who supplied u with the unlicensed copy was one of the criteria.
