So you are actually running a RE-install of XP, right?
WHY are you doing that?
The error message that you are getting simply means that
you previously downloaded and installed Windows Media Player 9
and now you are RE-installing with an XP CD that only has
Media Player 8. Just keep clicking OK to that error message
(may take many times of clicking OK) and the RE-install will proceed.
Note that by doing what you are doing, ALL XP critical updates
will be removed (because they also are not on that XP CD) including
Service Pack 1 unless the XP CD shows that it includes SP1 on the
label. That means that once this RE-install is finished and you connect
to the Internet without being behind a router or have a Firewall enabled,
you will be immediately vulnerable to infection by the MSBLASTER
or SASSER worms (or their variants). You will need to get all XP critical
updates installed again.
