Get yer PL2005 CD here

M

Mark Warner

Got the file (finally -- gotta love FileZilla), burned a test disk, and
ran it through it's paces.

The PL2005 CD may now be "ordered" from the rolling hills of southern
Indiana.

This may not be the way Susan has described the procedure, but it's how
I've done it in the past, and how I intend to do it now:

Send an email request to me directly at mhwarner @ insightbb .com.
Include your full name and snail mail address. Make sure you send the
email from an address that you will be monitoring, in case I need to
reply. (I will also try and send a note when the disks hit the outgoing
snail mail). I will NOT be contacting people who have posted requests to
the newsgroup.

I will be burning over the weekend, and will try and have every request
filled and in Monday's mail. I do not request, require, or expect any
kind of reimbursement, blank CD, or mailer. This is just my little
contribution to the cause. There will be a return address on the mailer,
and anybody that feels obliged is free to send a couple bucks back.
Again, not requested, required, or expected.

Come and get it.

Don't know how and don't care to learn at the moment. I'll send you the
CD and you can knock yourself out.

Besides, there will (hopefully, still working on it) be a publicly
accessible host for the ISO in the not-too-distant future.

Other volunteer burners may wish to do something similar - please post
whatever procedure you want people to follow. (REMbranded has already
posted asking for direct requests.) Repeating some info I posted earlier
today - the list of volunteer burners *and* their email addresses is
here temporarily:

No requests so far. I waded through the spam twice to make sure I
didn't miss anyone. Maybe the mention was overlooked in the other
thread.

I'll send from Texas to anyone in the US. Same deal as Mark, except I
will be contacting some people in the threads also.

Please use this header, remove 'REM' to reply via email, or email me:

branded @ inu . net

and use 'ACF' as a subject.

Is there going to be a list posted of which programs are different from the
last CD? List of programs removed/added?

I hadn't *planned* to but since you ask :) - below are three lists:
only 05 (added), on both CDs, only 04 (removed).

I don't know which programs that are on both CDs have the same *files*
on both CDs. You'll have to sort that out yourself (if you're interested).

I was only really interested in which files were added. There's no point in
me wasting the time to download an ISO file if there were only a handfull of
programs added. If there were any in the additions that interested me I
could just seek those files individually. My main interests are in
programming and internet servers and neither category has much weight in
this ng nor is there much to pick from in those categories in this ng's
collections.

Good for you.
Go blow your self and give us a report on how it came out.

Have you always had such an assshole attitude or did you have to work at it?

All requests received to this point have been filled and mailed (except
for the one from Canukistan -- gotta go to the Post Office for that
one).

Further requests will be accepted, of course, but may not be processed
quite so quickly. Please check the CD immediately upon receipt. (No, I
did not personally test every one, but I have had few if any problems
with my burning regimen in the past.)

Then pass it on.

Here ya go FW...most people, well, maybe not you since you don't show much
intelligence to begin with would rather download the few files that were
different than download a 700+ meg file. That's called common sense. Work
on it, you might get it figured out by mid year...maybe.

A "few files that were different"? :) :) :)

I see 13 last freeware versions on the PL05 list - all also on PL04 (I'm
not sure how many are on one or both of the CDs).

13 LFW apps vs. 207 apps total on PL05.

Common sense tells me that most files on the PL2005 CD will be new and
different (especially the large files - openoffice.org etc.)

which leads back to why i asked the damn question to begin with...so i could
decide if i wanted to download x number of files that were different that i
might have an interest in or to download the entire 750 frigging megs. wtf
is so difficult to understand about that??
