GET CERTAIN WORKSTATIONS TO AUTHENTICATE TO DC IN THEIR OWN NETWORK?

One domain, 2 Win 2000 server DC's in main office, all users in main
office and branch offices authenticate to the 2 DC's.

Main office is 10.91.x.x, branch office A 10.51.x.x, branch office B
10.85.x.x, etc.

We'll be placing a new DC in each of the branch office.

How do I do it so that workstations in branch office A will authenticate
to the new DC in its subnet, and if the DC in its subnet is down, the
workstations will proceed authenticating to other DC's?

Configuring a Site for every remote subnet should do the trick. The clients
will authenticate to the closest DC by default. There have been issues which
have been fixed by recent service packs. Note that configuring a Site also
gives you the option to control replication between DCs.
