Generic host process for win 32 services

Please help I don’t know how to fix this problem and it’s driving me insane.

I get the following error message soon after I log on:

Generic host process for win 32 services has encountered a problem and needs
to close,

Error Signature:
EventType : BEX P1 : svchost.exe P2 : 5.1.2600.2180 P3 : 41107ed6
P4 : netapi32.dll P5 : 5.1.2600.2180 P6 : 411096ac P7 : 0000a3c0
P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000

Error report contents
C:\DOCUME~1\TEMP\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER6262.dir00\svchost.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\TEMP\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER6262.dir00\appcompat.txt

I am on Win XP Professional
Microsoft windows 5.1

I also have another problem which may be related – when I log on it says it
cannot load locally stored profile – causes of this error include
insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. It then forces me to
log on with a temporary profile.

If you can help with either please contact me.

i would say your diagnosis is partly correct,
try (at your own caution) and make a new user and see if the message goes away

I tried starting in safe mode earlier and creating a new user but I cant log
in as I don’t know the administrator password as this is an ex-work pc. Plus
I want to get all my settings back so need to be able to log in as me…..will
that be possible?

Can you logon in normal mode? If so create the new user in normal mode with
administrator privileges. See if you can login to this account. If so,
then copy the settings from the old account to the new.

try and log in using the persons way above BUT then using the Files and
settings transfer wizard in Win XP export your settings to something else
BESDIDES the hard drive with windows on it THEN backup your files and
reinstall, its sounds like your PC has serious isssues with logging on, that
might be the only way to fix it
