general protection fault problem

I keep getting this ( wowexec caused a general protcetion
fault in module mmsystem.DLL at 000A:0032 whenever I put
in certain cd's. Any suggestions.....I found one at
folksonline.com....where you right click on properties
and go into computer but the final step said opasit* what
is that....

wowexec has something to do with running older 16bit programs.
I find that it causes slow downs and some errors once in awhile.
After running an older program and I close it. I go to task manager and
look at running processes and close wowexec if it is running.
Clears everything up.
