Gear Drivers?

I'm using XP and last night I tried to use my CD drive it wouldn't work. I
went in to My Computer and it doesn't even list it. Today I tried to use my
scanner and I can't bring that up either. I sent the error message to
Micrsoft their analysis is "error likely caused by Gear Driver
(gearsec.exe)" and I was direct to their website but am totally confused as
to what to download if anything. I also ran an Adv. System Information Error
Log and got a bunch of listings "the gearsecurity has reported an invalid
current stat 0. Is this something I can correct myself ? Thank you

If it's most likely caused by a driver, and the drivers name is
grearsec.exe, what would you think you might download to fix the problem?
Let's see, the driver is bad, so what to download? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Gearsec.exe is used for burning,I don't see a relationship to your scanner
but who knows?
gearsec.exe driver update
http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

Six months ago (a long time in computer terms) gearsec.exe was not
compatiable with service pack 2, this should have been resolved by now but I
haven't checked it out lately, did you recently install SP2?
