gateway notebook

yeap i have a gateway notebook (mx7118) runnin windows xp home . need some
real help ,when i start my notebook .i try
all what it says below but it still comes back to the same error mess .. i
put my (recovery cd ) and as i see it do nothing is there a life for my
notebook ? but 2 me it seems like the hard drive shot but not dead help me
get it
back to life plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz thanks for that time u put in this 2read
also my warrenty x-spire . i try every thing u read in the bottom of this
mess

When you say you put in the (recovery cd) and it does nothing, are you restarting your computer
(with the disk still in the drive) or are you putting the CD in while the computer is on?
If you expect the (recovery cd) to work, you have to restart the computer while the CD is still in
the drive.
But you also have to have the computer BIOS set to read the CD before it reads the hard drive.
Press "F2" key when the Gateway logo appears. Follow instructions to find "Boot Sequence" and
configure the computer to read the CD before the hard drive.

I haven't worked on Gateways for a long time, but a (restore cd) may destroy all of your personal
data, I hope you have backups of documents, pictures, etc.

im usein windows xp home ...i cant do a restore cuz it wont let me i do
everything it says like i start off with safe mode but then it go's back to
