I have Ganymede 80gb Jupiter J680 (Excelstor) UDMA 100. I am having trouble
connecting this to my asus p2b motherboard. If I put the jumer setting on
32 GB clip then this is the only way I ahve got the motherboard to recognise
the hard drive. When I try to install win xp from scratch, however, then
setup fails each time the the machine jsut reboots and it cant copy certain
files. If I put the jumper setting to 16hds or 15hds master or cable
select, the hard drive does not auto detect. I think there is some
compatability problem between hd an motherboard, any suggestions?

The HD works coz when I plug it into my new computer, then it detects
fine... its just with the p2B m/b that doesnt seem to work. What can I do?

Which jumper setting do you think should work?

Should the drive be compatable, or is motherboard too old?

Thanks and regards,

Andre.

do?

I have an ASUS P2B rev 1.04, Award Modular Bios v4.51 PG ACPI Bios
Revision 1006 and had the same problem. I downloaded some software
patch from Maxtor and now I run 3 x 80 gb drives no problem. The IDE
Detect function in the bios of course won't work. But when Win2k starts
up, everything is fine.

I would try BIOS 1014.003 first.
