Game Intro Movie Playback Problem

S

Simon Harding

There appears to be a problem with the playback of any
game intro movie that has been produced using the BINK
video compression (*.bik file). The problem manifests
itself as a stuttering of sound and/or graphics during
playback. The problem only exists on machines that have
been clean installed with Windows XP SP1. Windows XP
systems without SP1 or those that have had SP1 added are
not affected. I have downloaded the BINK Game Tools
player which plays the individual movie files fine. But
when running a game EXE file, the movies stutter. There
is obviously a difference video codec wise between XP and
XP SP1 - the problem is trying to find the relevant files.
Downloading Indeo XP 5.2 Codec package did not resolve
this issue which applied to all games with BINK video
movies. Any thoughts ?

I am fully up to date via Windows Update. Do you have any
specifics on the relevant Micrsoft update or Knowledge
base reference ?

Not all updates appear in the WindowsUpdates or thru the Automatic updates.

the problem. www.nvidia.com follow this and go to
