having problems playing an old sierra game

Hi from melbourne australia. For a couple of days now l have been trying to
run an old sierra game called return to krondor. I have been able to install
the game, but l can't seem to run it, when the game starts or during setup l
hear a sound. But the problem is l get a message stating on top of the
internet explorer box `indeo video playback' and the message is basically
saying that l need a microsoft `ADPCM AUDIO CODEC', or a different device
driver, and the message suggests l go to some website, but you have to pay.
So l did some research on this in which l didn't learn much because l know
littlle about computer terms, but basically adpcm was some sound file in
windows 95 and 98, but l don't have it. I am using WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION,
but the way l figure it out is that l bought my computer last year and l
thought l could play any game on it, no matter how old, on windows xp. I have
other sierra games like kings quest, in which l haven't installed. Anyway if
you do have an answer for my problem l would be grateful, could l have the
answer in simple terms, as l'm not familiar with computer jargon, thanks bye.

Hi Shmucksky,

If you click Start / All Programs and select Windows Update from
the menu, you will find the Indeo Codec listed there as one of the
optional updates available for you to select and install on your system.
