FTP Connection Closed by remote host

Hi,
I'm using FTP from the cmd prompt of a Windows 2000
advanced server. I'm connecting to a remote FTP server and
trying to get a file from remote FTP server.

The remote server accepts the connection and I'm able to
browse the contents of the remote server. When I give the
command to get the file, it is giving an error stating
that connection closed by remote host.

I tried the same commands from another windows 2000 server
and I'm able to get files using FTP from the same remote
server.

Please advise to resolve this problem.
Regards,
Prinu

it could be a firewall issue. FTP will use 2 different ports and it changes
depending on wether your using active or passive ftp mode (the way the
server is set up). If your not able to make the conection on the second port
the server may automticaly close the conection to conserve resources. If you
are behind a firewall or router, try opening them up and see if the same
problem exists. If it doesn't then determin how the ftpserver is setup and
open the apropriate ports. You shouldn't have to keep everythign wide open
to use it but it does become a pain opening the specific ports in some
situations.
