frustrated system32 failure

can not run ms-dos install disc,error 16 bit windows subsystem
C:\winnt\system32
\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications . Have tried the solutions given on XP site
and a few more and still cannot install ,even tried safe mode. any other
suggestion other than reformatting?

I'm having a similar problem - have you had any responses yet - or any luck?
Mine only does it occasionally so I'm still able to work - but it's VERY
frustrating. Could it possibly be a virus?

look at the reply from Maida on 3/16. Type in your error in the search box
and you'll get all the posts relating to it - I just fixed my problem by
following Maida's instructions - so give it a go!!!
