For some reason, my tool bar isn't showing hardly any selections. Most are
down and gray. I am missing something. I can't even insert a pic or
background. Help?

I think it's: - Right click the tool bar, & tick appropriate ones to bring
them back.

It didn't work. When I click on picture under insert-- all the file, clipart,
etc tabs are down. Same with under themes--background and most are down and
gray. Weird. I have frontpage extensions installed on this site. I checked
that first.

If this is on your local machine, make sure that you have a web / site open (File Menu | Open Web /
Site) and not just a page.

Also if using FP2003, under Tools | Page Options | Authoring you have everything enabled.

Thomas, I am using FPXPprofessional and under page options, everything is
enabled. I also have the website open, not just a page. It is strange that I
have no problem with with other websites I am working on.

Ok, with FP closed, search for and delete CmdUI.prf. FP will recreate this when restarted.

Have you opened a web/site? Many options require a web/site to be opened.
Otherwise, Tools->Page Options - Authoring tab
or Tools->Page Options - Compatibility tab

and adjust the settings. More details require more information.

Hey all, I got it fixed. Don't ask me how --- I do have another problem with
java. It says java is not installed and I can't view some webpages. It IS
installed and yes, it is enabled. Tried the windows update thing and that
didn't work either. Any suggestions?

Many Windows XP and/or IE 6 users do not have the ability to see Java Applets as MS no longer
distributes the MS Java Virtual Machine. Do not confuse Java with JavaScript.

I would think what I need then is JavaScript in order to view certain
webpages. Any way I can enable this?

JavaScript is normal enabled by default, however if you have Windows XP SP2 installed, your Security
Setting may block you running them when viewing a page on your local HD.

Open your site first from File > Open > Site.

Most options will be greyed-out until you open your site as above.
