FrontPage Slow Saving

I have traced the issue down to the following two files that cause FrontPage
to save slowly: "doctodep.btr" and "deptodoc.btr". If you remove them and use
new versions of them it does not seem to hurt FrontPage in any way and the
slow saving issue goes away.

You can do this by backing up all of the files that FP creates, deleting
them and then recreating the site by reopening it in FP. FP regenerates all
relevant files and then you can copy all of the old ones back except the
previously mentioned two. The most important ones to me at this point is the
structure file.

Thank god that battle is over. Nothing like waiting 5 freaking minutes to
save a file.

Those files manage relationships between documents, structure and meta info...it'll be interesting to see what effect deleting them will have.

Don't copy any old FP site management files (that will usually corrupt the site)
- running a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks should recreate them
PS
Before you open the site in FP in Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Unfortunately desperate times...

5 minutes to save a file? Forget it! When I do delete them, I recalc the
links and it seems to work soo.... If I hold my tongue just so and stand on
one foot, maybe, just maybe, I can finish this damned project and get on with
using my regular tool which is not so freaking flaky.

I am now having the pleasure of dealing with the mysterious changing FP
server extensions to the magical version '6.0.2.6353'. Which, apparently does
not exit says the SECOND sys admin to deal with it. I would love to verify it
bu I am cannot find it on the MS site. Maybe it is linked to the deleting of
the files, but at this point I do not care.
