From submission prompts for user name and password

I have a FP enabled site on Win2003 IIS 6.0 server. Form created in FP using
the Form Template. When a user fills out the Form and clicks the Submit
button, user is prompted for a login name and password. If ignored,
submission failure meesage regarding user rights. If a FP site user
credentials used, the Form submission completes and the results page is
rendered.

However, the results are not E-mailed to the selected E-mail address. I run
the servere, so I checked the SMTP mail server setting; it is correct. Also
ran a FP server health check; received some fixes notices; but form still
does not work.

The results need to be written to the _private folder which has write permission

Thanks much for your reply;

I added the IUSR guest account to the _private directory and gave it write
rights. Still no go. I did not reset IIS, but stopped and started the WEB
site.

Will reset later, but any other possibilities??

Thanks again;

Hi All;

Continuing problem with the request for login when trying to submit a
FrontPage Form. Reseting IIS had no effect.

Any other ideas?

Thanks much.

Is the form set to write to a file?
If yes, is the file located in the _private folder?
If yes, have run a server health check and let FP correct all permissions?
If yes, then you will need to manually set <IUSER_machinename> to have write access to the _private
folder

Thanks much Thomas;

Your steps did the job with the addition of check the properties of the
_private directory inside of FrontPage. There is a checkbox to enable
anonymous users to upload to the directory that was not set.

Glad to hear that you got it working. The option allow uploads would only be necessary if you are
also allow user to upload file, but would not be needed allow writing to a file in the _private
folder.
