frequent systems shutdown/restart

My notebook computer (compaq nx9010) is running under
Windows XP connected to a network.
i always get DISTURBED in the midst of my work by the
message that partly says something like: "Your computer
will shutdown by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM... Windows must
restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service
terminated unexpectedly"
i always receive this everyday oftentimes at least 4
times a day usually in short intervals.
How can i get rid of this problem, so I can work smoothly?

You should keep your computer up to date with windows updates. It's a must
that you run a good antivirus program at all times.
