Freezes and odd behavior after applying fixes KB929338 and KB890830

Fixes KB929338 KB890830

I have seen other posts about these fixes freezing system on boot up
but I am having diferent problems.

Symptom 1: While in an application the application will freeze. If
you wait long enough sometimes it will unfreeze or you can force it to
unfreeze by minimising and maximising the window. This happens on
various applications as different as MS Word to "Second Life".

[it just happened again while typing this - restored it by minimise/
maximise]

Symtom 2: Various special keys stop working e.g. 'delete' key and
scroll wheel on mouse.

Symptom 3: Total freeze, Ctl-Alt-Del is also frozen. Only way out is
forced power down.

My system was fine prior to installing updates and no other system
changes in the last week.

My wife is also experiencing similar problems with applications
freezing on her work PC.

Any other people having this? If this is a general problem Microsoft
will need to sort it out - I don't want to have to re-build my syste
if I can help it!

Matin.

Hi Matin,
I believe if you hit the F8 key while turning on computer you will go to
safe mode.
While in safe mode go to start menu. Access accessories, system tools, and
restore mode. go into restore and go back to a previous time when the
computer worked, good luck.
