The reason you have no idea is because you seem very tunnel visioned John.

No, I don't have any idea what you're talking about because your
sentences made no sense.
I can't see the point of jumping down peoples throats because they (maybe
niavely) mention payware.

I've already apologized to Gimpy for coming on too strong. If that's not
good enough for you, that's simply too bad.
They have not been rude, abusive or used foul
language. Freeware can only take you so far and do a fair job doing so, but
there are often times when there isn't an instant fix with freeware. It's
almost impossible to run a reliable system on freeware alone anyway. I agree
that a screensaver probably wasn't the right time to mention payware, but I
disagree that you needed to lecture him pubicly. I just don't see the point
of arguing over trivial matters.

This group is supposed to be for the discussion of freeware. It amazes
me that you don't seem to understand that simple and fundamental point.
If the group gets any more cluttered up with off topic mentions of
non-freeware, it will lose it's effectiveness.

You can continue posting to this thread and have the last word, but it
won't matter to me because I'm not going to be reading your posts.

End of discussion.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett, Doc (who uses sock puppets)
or Roger Johansson, for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial
software, crippleware, demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware,
spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

Maybe you have a problem with vision.

All you have to do now is apologise to all the others who have found
themselves at the receiving end of your self-appointed net fascism.

And what you don't seem to understand is that many people who are
looking around for a piece of software which does X, may be pleased to
get advice of what is available regardless of whether it's free. It
may be that the the free s/w available which does X has already been
found by others to be less than good. Pointing out that a pay program
available is highly regarded is being helpful, not off topic. To
ignore pay s/w in providing help when appropriate is dumb.

As the OP says you suffer from tunnel vision.

They look good, but because screen savers are historically a source of
spyware infection (not personal experience, mind you), I, at least, am
loath to give it a try. Maybe if it was listed at a reputable freeware
website, I'd give it a spin. Do you know of any such listings? I Googled
it, but could find none.

Clicking on the link for 'Reef of Enchantment' Screensaver:
<http://www.appleblossomart.net/download.php?dnld=?+22958&ez=ss>

Says in rightout:
"Click HERE[1] to download. The first few downloads have advertising
software which pay for the file storage and can be easily removed in
Add/Remove programs. You may direct comments and questions about
removing the advertisement programs by contacting FileSubmit. Thank you
for your patience. Ad-free files Here[2]."

Extra! - Extra! - Extra!

So perhaps it will help to wait until it isn't news anymore, if one
really, really, want that one. Nah, i don't think so. The downloaded
installer-file (7 084 128 Bytes) is copyrighted and digitally signed by
'WebDevAZ Inc.'.

'WebDevAZ' is an advertizing company if i read it right
<http://webdevaz.com/>, and when i downloaded a number of Screensavers
more then a year ago, it used the guises of 'ezthemes.com' &
'filesubmit.com' to happily provide me with adware-infected ones.

I know that you are only trying to help the OP, but what if everybody
started recommending commercial software in this group? It's kind of
like littering... "What if everybody did it?"

Unreviewed to date by site advisor. Will now be reviewed.

Firefox would not allow the site to load. Site Advisor code "RED".

Your hunch on funscreenz appears warranted.
