FP2K hangs after publishing

B

Brenda

Why does FP2k hang after done publishing? A CTRL-Alt-Del shows it to NOT
Responding. I have to close it, restart, make a change, publish, login and
repeat the process again.
It's getting pretty bad - enough to drop it all together.

TIA

Has it always done this or did it just start??
Any way, close FrontPage and use windows search and search for files named *.web ( with the
asterisk ) and delete all that it finds.
The search for *.tmp and delete all found.
Reopen FrontPage and see if it's fixed.

Are you publishing to a server that has the FP extensions? It the remote server has the extensions,
ask the host to run a check on the extensions for your account.

FP most likely is waiting for a response from the server that it is not getting, which then cause it
to hang. Are you seeing the final step in publish where FP indicates it is processing the updates,
etc.

Yes to the server-side extensions being there. Publishing results in seeing
it listing, then publishing then that's it. If I FTP into the folder, I can
see the files published OK, and can be viewed OK in a browser - to continue
with FP2K, I need to restart it. I tried the trick of deleting
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State\cmdui.prf to no
avail. Been all through Google too.

Thanks again.

I hope you are only using FTP to view the files, as publish or change any content via FTP on a FP
enabled site can also cause this kind of problem.

See Steve's reply, but you should also have your host run a check on the extensions as well.
