FP2003 upload problem

G

Guest

When I upload files with FP2003, the program connects to my remote website
and the window that says files are transferred appears, but nothing happens.
Even worse, when I try to update a file, the original remote file on my
website gets deleted and not replaced.
On the other hand, I have no problem when I upload with other FTP apps such
as Smart FTP.
Any ideas? Thanks - Louis

Does the server have FrontPage extensions installed??
If so you have broken them using ftp.
Have your host reset / repair them and then publish with FrontPage using
http://

Because with FrontPage the correct address is ftp://sitename.com or .org as
appropriate.
not ftp://ftp.[sitename]

fwiw, I could never figure out why people install 3rd party ftp programs
when ftp is already built into windows and also into IE

I wonder why FP has this problem and other apps don't.

Then that would explain why you can't HTTP publish.

1. Wrong. The correct address is ftp://ftp.[sitename] At least, I have a
connection with this address. I have no connection when I use your option.
2. People do that when FP doesn't work for one reason or another.

Tx for your replies anyway. - Louis
