FP 2000 Publishing question

We purchased a business that already has a website. I've made some changes
and want to publish. I click publish changed pages only. I am asked if I
want to overwrite a file, and it lists a date of when it was modified, which
is years ago. I suspect that the person making the changes for the previous
owner of our business was making changes directly to the website, but I don't
know what I'll get if I say yes or no! What I want is exactly what I see in
the preview pane.

The first time you publish to an existing web site from a new PC, you need
to do the following:

Open the live web site and publish it to your PC, using the "publish all"
option.
Close the live web site and open your new local copy of the web site in
FrontPage.
Do a "Publish all" from your PC back up to the live site.
Do a "publish changed pages only" from your PC back up to the live site (it
shouldn't find any changes).
The two sites are now in sync.
From this point on, you can make changes locally and publish them to the
live site using the "changed pages only" option.
