Hi, I have lost my windows XP boot disk but have another windows I want on my
computer for now. The other windows CD(ME) will not format my hard drive
because the XP version will not allow it. I have a spyware problem and it has
disabled my computer, is there anyway to format a windows XP home edition
SPK2 hard drive without a CD

Yes and NO.

Yes, a floppy drive boot disk with the program fdisk.com will remove the XP partition and let you
format the drive in FAT 32 (limited in size). A utility disk from the Hard Drive manufacturer will
let you prepare (remove partition and format) the hard drive.

But neither of these options will let you format the drive in NTFS and neither will give you back
your XP operating system. You will need to buy another XP disk.

Was your PC a "name brand" system? i.e. Compaq, HP, Dell, etc.? If so, check the owners manual
for access to the hidden partition for a restore installation. You will lose all of your personal
data, but you should be able to get the PC back to factory status.

False. The floppy utility, from Seagate and Maxtor anyway, will format
in NTFS and allow you to partition, among other things.

Sure there is, but there is no way to install XP without one or without
the system's recovery CD.

Hello

Go to www.bootdisk.com and download the W98 bootdisk. Use the FDisk option on there to format your Hard Drive. For installing Windows ME you will need to remove the present partition and format in FAT 32.

When done install the Windows ME
