formatting hard drive

I want to know exactly how to format my hard drive as i
am a beginner and knowing how to format is a bonus when
wanting to erase your hard drive and start a fresh and
the achievment of being able to do it myself is something
i always have wanted to be able to do as i have wanted to
know how to do this properly for quite some time now so
if you know how where i could maybe get a illustrated
tutorial on how to do this it would be much appreciated
so if you could please tell me i would be so grateful for
your help.

but be warned ###IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING### from your machine and you will
need all drivers and install CDs afterwards, but it can aften be worth doing
because windows does seem to 'age' and slow with time however clean it's kept.
