Hi, Richard
If your computer is a major brand preloaded with Vista, then it is unlikely
they included a restore disc. The hard drive probably has a second
partition, possibly hidden, under 10 gigabytes, that contains the info and
menus to restore to out-of-the-box condition. Many manufacturers also allow
you to create one set of restore discs -- open help and support and search
for the three words: create restore disc. Depending on what types of discs
your machine can write, it could take anywhere from one DVD-DL to 10 or more
CDs. I would advise creating these restore discs and verify them (the
creation menu probably has a checkbox for verification).

You should be able to boot from these discs and restore your system. Or,
during a normal bootup, you should see some options to hit various function
keys, one of which should lead to restoring from the restore partition.
