Format of phone numbers automatically chaning format

When entering phone numbers into outlook 2007 contacts i enter them in the
desired format, for example 0429926219. After saving the contacts the number
automatically changes to (04) 2992-6219. For several of the purposes that i
use my numbers for this stops me being able to dial from the contacts list.
How can i stop these changes from automatically changing???

You can't. Outlook 2007 is no different than any other version. Masking of
phone numbers is hard coded and not subject to end user configuration.
Outlook is a data base. It must present a consistent format for its data. It
does so using standard formats. If your dialing requirements are different,
then the problem lies with your dialer, not Outlook.
