Forcing display resolution

H

Hans

I would always like to have a screen resolution of 800x480 no matter
what monitor is connected. I have tried setting the screen resolution
in 3 different ways: from control panel, in the registry and setting
it programmatically with the ChangeDisplaySettings API. All 3 methods
are working fine if the monitor supports the resolution. The problem
occurs when the pc restarts with a display connected which does not
support the resolution, then the resolution changes and can not be
forced back to 800x480. I have tried to remove the Plug & Play Monitor
and only use the VGA Save component but the supported resolutions are
still detected.

I have read numerous threads on display resolution but I can not
figure out how to force it whatever monitor is connected.

I have tried using the Intel Embedded Graphics Driver but still with
the same problem

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Hans

Hi Hans,

You should be able to remove all resolution but only support the resolution
you want by using IEGD 7.0 tool with monitor DTD. We had created an IEGD
driver only support 852x480 before. I believe you can do it, too.

I am using the new IEGD 8.0 tool and I have tried to use the DTD
monitor as you said and now I am able to force the resolution. No
matter which monitor is connected to my pc at boot-time, I am always
having the same resolution. Even if no monitor is connected to my pc
at powerup I still get the same resolution. The IEGD is a powerfull
tool.

Thanks for the tip regarding DTD.

Thanks,
Hans
