Forcing a head clean on Epson DX4000/DX4050

Hi

I have an Epson DX4050 MFP (also known as a DX4000) and have been
using generic Inkrite cartridges rather than Epson's own ones.

The time has come to clean the print heads, but the software refuses
because I'm not using Genuine Epson ink cartridges.

Ignoring the fact that this seems a bit unfair to me, is there a way
that I can force the printer to perform a headclean?

Just in case there are different types of DX4050s around the world, I
bought it in France, and I think in the UK it's known as a DX4000 (the
difference is purely down to a different power adapter).

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Have you attempted to hold the ink droplet button in for about 5 seconds?
Doing that procedure seems to always precipitated a cleaning cycle on any
Epson I've known. If you hold it less than 3 seconds the head simply moves
to the left for either an out of ink cartridge indication, or a change of
outdated cartridge position.

This may be referred to as a CX MFP in North America. I have never
heard of the printer refusing to do a head cleaning based upon use of
3rd party ink cartridges. A nag screen, yes, or even the printer
refusing to acknowledge the cartridges at all, yes, but assuming the
printer has been working with the cartridges in question, I haven't seen
a situation where the printer will specifically not allow for a cleaning
cycles.

What does the printer do when you try to do a cleaning cycle?

I can send you a manual for Epson cleaning that may help with this type
of problem. It is free and you will not be spammed.

That is a terrific idea.
